นางสาวสุดาวรรณ หวังศุภกิจโกศล รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม เปิดเผยว่า ภาพยนตร์เรื่อง “ผีใช้ได้ค่ะ” (A Useful Ghost) ของผู้กำกับรัชฏ์ภูมิ บุญบัญชาโชค หรือ “อุ้ย” ที่ได้รับคัดเลือกให้เข้าประกวดในสาย Critics’ Week (Semaine de la Critique) ของเทศกาลภาพยนตร์เมืองคานส์ ประเทศฝรั่งเศส ครั้งที่ 78 ได้รางวัล Grand Prize AMI Paris ซึ่งเป็นรางวัลสูงสุดที่คณะกรรมการจะมอบให้กับภาพยนตร์ขนาดยาวยอดเยี่ยมประจำปีของสายประกวด Semaine de la Critique ถือว่าวงการภาพยนตร์ไทยประสบผลสำเร็จและเป็นเรื่องที่น่ายินดีอย่างยิ่ง เนื่องจากครั้งนี้มีภาพยนตร์ไทยเรื่องแรกในรอบ 10 ปี ที่ได้รับเกียรติเข้าร่วมเทศกาลระดับโลกนี้ในสายการประกวด และยังได้รับรางวัลจากการประกวดด้วย
ภาพยนตร์ “ผีใช้ได้ค่ะ” จากบริษัท 185 ฟิล์มส์ จำกัด ได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจากทั่วโลก เช่น ทุน Pre-production จากสำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม Open Doors Award จาก เทศกาลหนัง Locarno ทุน Co-pro จาก IMDA สิงคโปร์ ทุน Aide aux Cinémas du Monde ฝรั่งเศส ทุน Hubert Bals Fund+Europe เนเธอร์แลนด์ ทุน World Cinema Fund เยอรมนีและทุน Post-Production จาก THACCA กรมส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรม กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม
การได้รับคัดเลือกให้ฉายประกวดและได้รับรางวัลในงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์เมืองคานส์ครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นความสำเร็จและความภาคภูมิใจครั้งสำคัญอีกครั้งหนึ่งของวงการภาพยนตร์ไทย ที่เกิดขึ้นจากความร่วมมือของทุกภาคส่วนทั้งภาครัฐ และภาคเอกชน สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าวงการภาพยนตร์ไทย มีศักยภาพในระดับที่สามารถแข่งขันได้และได้รับการยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติ ต้องขอขอบคุณทุกภาคส่วนที่ร่วมมือร่วมใจกันส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์ รัฐบาลโดยกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม สำนักงานส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมสร้างสรรค์ หรือ THACCA รวมถึงหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องที่พร้อมที่จะผลักดันและสนับสนุนให้วงการภาพยนตร์ไทยมีศักยภาพที่แข็งแกร่งมากยิ่งขึ้น เพื่อเป็นเครื่องยนต์สำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจและซอฟต์พาวเวอร์ของประเทศไทยต่อไป

Thailand’s "A Useful Ghost" Makes History, Wins Top Prize at Cannes Critics’ Week

Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Minister of Culture, announced that the Thai film “A Useful Ghost” directed by Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke (nicknamed “Oui”), has won the Grand Prize AMI Paris—the highest award in the Critics’ Week (Semaine de la Critique) section of the 78th Cannes Film Festival in France. This marks a remarkable achievement for the Thai film industry, as it is the first Thai film in a decade to be selected for competition in this section and to receive an award.

Produced by 185 Films Co., Ltd., A Useful Ghost received global funding support including a Pre-production grant from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture, the Open Doors Award from the Locarno Film Festival, Co-production support from Singapore's IMDA, Aide aux Cinémas du Monde from France, Hubert Bals Fund + Europe from the Netherlands, the World Cinema Fund from Germany, and Post-production support from THACCA, Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture.

The selection and award recognition at this year’s Cannes Festival represents another major milestone and a source of pride for Thailand’s film industry. This achievement was made possible through the collaboration between the public and private sectors and highlights the international competitiveness and potential of Thai cinema.

The Minister extended gratitude to all stakeholders for their cooperation in promoting the film industry. The Thai government, through the Ministry of Culture, the Creative Culture Promotion Office (THACCA), and other relevant agencies, remains committed to strengthening the film industry as a powerful engine for driving the economy and promoting Thailand’s soft power on the global.
