คณะกรรมการนโยบายเศรษฐกิจและการเงินของญี่ปุ่นพิจารณาเพิ่มปริมาณข้าวนำเข้า เพื่อความมั่นคงด้านอาหาร โดยแนะให้เร่งการประมูลและเพิ่มโควต้าข้าวนำเข้าแบบ SBS (Simultaneous Buy and Sell) ซึ่งเป็นระบบที่ผู้นำเข้าและผู้ซื้อในประเทศจับคู่กันประมูลพร้อมกัน

ในปี 2567 ญี่ปุ่นนำเข้าข้าวจากไทยแล้วกว่า 280,000 ตัน โดยเป็นการนำเข้าแบบ SBS 7,454 ตัน ส่วนที่เหลือเป็นแบบ MA (Minimum Access) ซึ่งใช้ในอุตสาหกรรมอาหาร เช่น ข้าวอบกรอบ เต้าเจี้ยว และมิโสะ

ความต้องการข้าวไทยยังเพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ เพราะในญี่ปุ่นมีร้านอาหารไทยกว่า 2,300 แห่ง และยังมีข้าวไทยบรรจุแพ็ค-ข้าวไมโครเวฟวางขายทั่วไป รวมถึงข้าวไรซ์เบอรี่และข้าววิตามิน

หากญี่ปุ่นเพิ่มโควต้าการนำเข้าข้าวเพื่อบริโภค นี่คือโอกาสสำคัญที่ไทยจะส่งออกข้าวคุณภาพสู่ตลาดญี่ปุ่นให้ได้มากขึ้น

Japan Considers Increasing Imported Rice Quota for Domestic Consumption

Bright opportunity ahead for Thai rice

Japan’s Economic and Fiscal Policy Council is looking into expanding the import quota for rice to ensure food security. The Council recommends accelerating the SBS (Simultaneous Buy and Sell) auction process and increasing the import quota, in response to growing domestic demand.

In 2024, Japan imported over 280,000 tons of rice from Thailand—7,454 tons through the SBS system and the rest under the MA (Minimum Access) scheme for food processing industries like rice crackers and miso.

Thai rice remains in high demand, supported by over 2,300 Thai restaurants across Japan, along with widespread availability of pre-packed and microwaveable Thai rice. Imports of Thai riceberry and vitamin rice are also on the rise.

If Japan increases its quota for imported rice, Thailand has a golden chance to expand its export of high-quality rice to this key market.
