Thailand Unveils Economic Diplomacy Strategy to Counter Global Trade Volatility
Thailand has outlined an economic strategy to protect its export-dependent economy from global trade volatility and rising protectionism, according to Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow.
The strategy focuses on building confidence in the Thai economy, strengthening the competitiveness of domestic businesses, and expanding cooperation with international partners.
As global business trends shift toward digitalization and green growth, Thailand views diplomacy as an important tool for attracting investment and advanced technologies. Furthermore, amid increasingly uncertain trade rules and the use of tariffs for non-economic objectives, Thailand is seeking closer collaboration with like-minded partners to help uphold international trade norms.
The agenda also includes leveraging Thailand’s global diplomatic network to engage key decision-makers, balancing traditional and emerging markets, and reinforcing Thailand’s role in regional cooperation frameworks to enhance international connectivity.
