Japan’s Ruling Party Wins Big in Landslide

NHK and Reuters have reported the latest general election results in Japan, confirming a "landslide victory" for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), led by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The party has successfully secured an absolute majority in the House of Representatives on its own.

The LDP is projected to win between 274 and 328 seats out of the 465-seat total, comfortably surpassing the 233-seat majority threshold. This outcome marks a significant comeback for the party following its 2024 setback and puts the LDP on track for one of its strongest electoral performances in history.
