นายสีหศักดิ์ พวงเกตุแก้ว รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศไทย หารืออย่างไม่เป็นทางการกับนายตาน ส่วย รัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศเมียนมา ที่จังหวัดภูเก็ต ในโอกาสเดินทางเยือนประเทศไทย

โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายยืนยันความสัมพันธ์ใกล้ชิดในฐานะประเทศเพื่อนบ้านที่มีความร่วมมือครอบคลุมในหลายมิติ และเห็นพ้องส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านเศรษฐกิจ การค้าชายแดน การลงทุน และการสนับสนุนภาคเอกชนไทยในเมียนมา

ทั้งสองฝ่ายจะเพิ่มความร่วมมือด้านความมั่นคงระหว่างกองทัพและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง เพื่อแก้ปัญหาเพื่อป้องกันและแก้ไขปัญหาความมั่นคงตามแนวชายแดน โดยเฉพาะออนไลน์สแกม ยาเสพติด รวมถึงมลพิษทางอากาศและในแม่น้ำที่กระทบประชาชนสองประเทศ

ในระดับภูมิภาคอาเซียน ไทยแสดงความพร้อมทำหน้าที่เป็น “สะพานเชื่อม” สนับสนุนการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอาเซียนกับเมียนมาอย่างค่อยเป็นค่อยไป หลังการเลือกตั้งและการจัดตั้งรัฐบาลใหม่ของเมียนมา เพื่อผลักดันกระบวนการสันติภาพในเมียนมา อันจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อประชาชนสองประเทศและภูมิภาค


Thailand Holds Talks with Myanmar, Advances Border Cooperation

Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held an informal discussion with Mr. Than Swe, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, in Phuket during the latter’s visit to Thailand.

Both sides reaffirmed their close relationship as neighboring countries with comprehensive cooperation across multiple dimensions. They agreed to further promote collaboration in economic affairs, border trade, investment, and support for Thai private sector businesses operating in Myanmar.

The two sides also agreed to enhance security cooperation between their armed forces and relevant agencies to prevent and address border security challenges, particularly online scams, drug trafficking, as well as air and river pollution affecting people in both countries.

At the ASEAN regional level, Thailand expressed its readiness to serve as a “bridge” in supporting gradual and appropriate engagement between ASEAN and Myanmar following Myanmar’s election and the formation of its new government. Thailand also reaffirmed its willingness to support progress in Myanmar’s peace process for the benefit of both countries and the broader region.
