Myanmar Enforces Nationwide Ban on E-Cigarettes

Myanmar has enforced a nationwide ban on the import, export, sale, storage, distribution, and use of e-cigarettes effective 18 February, according to the Ministry of Health.

The decision was made due to the significant health risks linked to vaping products, particularly amid growing use among young people.

Health officials cautioned that e-cigarettes can lead to excessive nicotine intake and increase the risk of lung and heart diseases. The public is urged to comply strictly with the regulations. Violators will be subject to legal action under existing laws.

While e-cigarettes continue to be sold both online and in physical stores, authorities are strengthening monitoring and enforcement measures.

เมียนมาออกมาตรการห้ามนำเข้า ส่งออก และจำหน่ายบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า มีผลบังคับใช้ตั้งแต่วันที่ 18 กุมภาพันธ์ เป็นต้นไป พร้อมให้เหตุผลว่าบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าก่อให้เกิดอันตรายต่อสุขภาพของประชาชน

ในช่วงที่ผ่านมา การใช้บุหรี่ไฟฟ้าในเมียนมามีแนวโน้มเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยเฉพาะในกลุ่มเยาวชน ซึ่งถือเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญที่ทำให้รัฐบาลตัดสินใจดำเนินมาตรการควบคุมอย่างจริงจัง

กระทรวงสาธารณสุขของเมียนมาระบุว่า การใช้บุหรี่ไฟฟ้าทำให้ร่างกายได้รับสารนิโคตินในปริมาณสูงขึ้น และอาจนำไปสู่โรคที่เกี่ยวข้องกับปอด รวมถึงโรคหัวใจและหลอดเลือด จึงขอความร่วมมือจากประชาชนให้ปฏิบัติตามกฎหมายอย่างเคร่งครัด โดยผู้ฝ่าฝืนจะถูกดำเนินคดีตามกฎหมายที่เกี่ยวข้อง

แม้ปัจจุบันยังพบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าวางจำหน่ายทั่วไปทั้งตามท้องตลาดและบนแพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์ แต่ทางการเมียนมายืนยันว่าจะเพิ่มความเข้มงวดในการตรวจสอบและบังคับใช้กฎหมายให้มีประสิทธิภาพยิ่งขึ้น
