Nay Pyi Taw National Museum Reopens After Earthquake Repairs
The Nay Pyi Taw National Museum in Myanmar, officially resumed normal operations on 10 March 2026 after temporary closure due to damage caused by a major earthquake which epicenter was in Mandalay in March 2025. The earthquake affected many areas across the country, including buildings and exhibition spaces inside the museum.
The museum is now open to visitors every day except Mondays and public holidays, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission fees are set at 1,000 kyat per person for Myanmar citizens and 10,000 kyat for foreign visitors (approximately 150 Thai baht). Religious clergy, such as monks and nuns, as well as students are exempt from the admission fee.
The museum located in Nay Pyi Taw, is one of only two national museums in Myanmar. The complex covers an area of approximately 32 acres and consists of five exhibition buildings. It has been open to the public since 15 July 2015.
