Malaysia Increases National Rice Reserves to Cover 9 Months
The Cabinet of Malaysia has decided to increase the country's rice reserves to ensure they are sufficient for nine months of consumption. This measure aims to strengthen food security and prepare for global uncertainties, particularly tensions between the United States and Iran.
However, the Malaysian government has confirmed that the current national food reserves remain adequate. Supplies of rice, meat, and eggs are expected to meet domestic demand at least until May or June. The government has also urged the public not to worry about food shortages or possible price fluctuations during this period.
At the same time, the government is encouraging citizens to grow household vegetables such as chili, eggplant, and chives. This initiative aims to expand food sources at the household level and strengthen the country's long-term food security.
The Malaysian government emphasized that it will continue to closely monitor the food security situation. At present, there is no need for the public to panic or stockpile food, nor to be concerned about potential increases in food prices.
