เมื่อวันที่ 13 พฤษภาคม 2569 นายเชษฐพันธ์ มากสัมพันธ์ รองปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เข้าร่วมการประชุมเจ้าหน้าที่อาวุโสอาเซียน-ออสเตรเลีย ครั้งที่ 38 ณ นครซิดนีย์ เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับการประชุมสุดยอดในเดือนพฤศจิกายนนี้ โดยไทยได้แสดงบทบาทนำในการเสนอความร่วมมือด้านการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศและการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ทั้งเรื่องพลังงานสะอาด เทคโนโลยีการดักจับคาร์บอน และการสร้างตลาดคาร์บอนในภูมิภาค ผ่านการใช้ประโยชน์จากเครื่องมือส่งเสริมการลงทุนของออสเตรเลีย อาทิ Aus4ASEAN และ P4I รวมถึงมุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจภาคทะเล (Blue Economy) และการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ด้านการศึกษากับวัฒนธรรมผ่านศูนย์อาเซียน-ออสเตรเลีย ท่ามกลางสถานการณ์ความขัดแย้งในตะวันออกกลางและวิกฤตพลังงานที่ส่งผลกระทบไปทั่วโลก

Thailand Pushes for Climate Action and Blue Economy at the 38th ASEAN-Australia Forum in Sydney

On 13 May 2026, Deputy Permanent Secretary Chettaphan Maksamphan represented Thailand at the 38th ASEAN-Australia Forum in Sydney to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and prepare for the upcoming November summit. Thailand spearheaded discussions on the Green Agenda, proposing deeper cooperation in renewable energy, carbon capture technologies, and regional carbon market mechanisms while utilizing frameworks like Aus4ASEAN and P4I to support sustainable development and the Blue Economy. Additionally, the meeting addressed regional challenges including the energy crisis and the Middle East situation, alongside efforts to strengthen people-to-people ties through the ASEAN-Australia Centre.
